You are more than welcome to have your parents/guardians accompany you to the initial introduction meeting with Accessibility Services. Keep in mind that they may not request accommodations on your behalf. However, we understand that they may be a vital source of information regarding your disability and needs. After the initial meeting, you as the student will be the one that Accessibility Services communicates with via your HU email address unless you give permission to include your parents/guardians. You as the student will always be included on all communications. During your time at HU, we will work with you to develop skills of self-advocacy so that you can direct and manage your accommodations on your own.

If you received accommodations in K-12, this is may be different than what you are used to. I encourage you to look over the information we've put together so you and your parent/guardian feel prepared and informed of the process: K-12 Vs. College
