Academic Success Center
The Academic Success Center (ASC) supports student achievement by providing comprehensive academic support services, personalized guidance, and skill development opportunities. Students may access support throughout their academic journey by contacting StudentSuccess@HarrisburgU.edu or by visiting the Academic Success Center SharePoint Site.
Individualized Peer Tutoring & Learning Support
The ASC provides individualized tutoring from HU Peer Tutors who are students who have excelled in their courses they tutor and have been trained in tutoring standards, as well as learning support designed to strengthen academic performance. Services include:
- Course-based tutoring on course specific content, exam strategies, projects, and homework
- General writing tutoring on the writing process and assists with brainstorming, drafting, and revising.
- Tutoring consultations
- Assistance scheduling tutoring appointments

Writing & English Language Learner Support
Students can receive support throughout the writing process, including brainstorming, organization, thesis development, revision, citation practices, and academic writing conventions. Specialized support is also available for English Language Learners (ELLs) to strengthen academic communication, reading, writing, and comprehension skills.
Major Exploration & Academic Planning
The ASC assists students in successfully transitioning to Harrisburg University by helping them understand academic expectations, explore majors, develop academic plans, and build course schedules aligned with their educational goals.
Academic Coaching & Recovery Support
Students experiencing academic challenges can work with ASC staff to identify barriers to success, develop personalized action plans, strengthen self-advocacy skills, and create strategies for improving academic performance and degree progression. Services include:
- Academic reading and comprehension strategies
- Study skills and note-taking techniques
- Test preparation and test-taking strategies
- Time management and organization skills
