Pregnancy and related conditions are covered under Title IX. Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (“Title IX”), 20 U.S.C. §1681 et seq., is a Federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex—including pregnancy and parental status—in educational programs and activities.
HU's Title IX Coordinator or Deputy Coordinators can work with students and faculty to ensure that we are supporting students that have been impacted by pregnancy and related conditions. A list of rights is available on the US Department of Educations website: https://www2.ed.gov/about/offices/list/ocr/docs/dcl-know-rights-201306-title-ix.html
To help support our students, we have created a Title IX FAQ Student Pregnancy fact sheet. If this fact sheet does not resolve your question, please reach out to the Director of Compliance/Title IX Coordinator, Matt Point, for additional information, email@example.com.
